Biography
Rob Stewart is currently completing his Master in Sound Design (VCAM). In 2005 he graduated from the School of Production, VCA, majoring in Sound Design. There Rob was seconded to British artist Gina Czarnecki, on her large scale interactive installation ‘Contagion’ which gained the prestigious Welcome Trust grant, UK. Rob works closely with artist Arlo Mountford on animation/installation works featured in the Adelaide Biennale, Conical gallery, Gertrude Street Contemporary Art Gallery and in Japan, Korea and Italy. Rob was also co-sound designer on the feature film ‘The Tragedy of Hamlet Prince of Denmark’ in 2006 which was featured in the 2007 Melbourne International Film Festival. In 2007 Rob has since worked on Ashes To Ashes with Sam Strong, Spring Awakening with Simon Stone, Spilt Second as part of a Kickstart/Next Wave grant and the short film The Castle On The Sand by Robbie McEwen.
Rob makes up a core part of the X:MACHINE team, having worked on 'Senseless' (2007) for which he was nominated for a Green Room Award, 'Serial Blogger' (2008), 'We are What We Want' (2008) and the development of 'Court' in 2009. In 2010 Rob's research work will continue to inform X:MACHINE's artistic explorations, as the company further explore the relationship between trigger technologies, performers, designers and the audience as part of 'Game, Set: A Digital Dramaturgy Symposium'.
